Going beyond traditional flour-based starch extraction methods, this project represents an advanced process development initiative established under a nationally funded research and development program supported by TÜBİTAK.The primary objective was to further process high-purity Grade A starch and dewater it with maximum efficiency, using parameters optimized for its high specific gravity.
Our Technical Process and Research and Development Approach
The distinctive density and delicate structure of starch require advanced engineering and specialized design parameters beyond those of standard separation systems.
Specialized G-Force Design: By optimizing bowl speed and centrifugal force to account for the high specific gravity of starch particles, we achieved the targeted upper performance limits in solid-liquid separation.
Tailor-Made, Process-Driven Engineering: A specialized decanter configuration was developed for this specific application, which falls outside the scope of standard production lines. Following successful field and laboratory trials, the solution was integrated directly into industrial production.
Results and Added Value
Excellent Product Dryness: The high solids content achieved at the decanter discharge enabled the product to reach the optimum dryness level.
Significant Energy Savings in Drying Ovens: The maximum dryness achieved during separation reduced the thermal load on the downstream drying ovens, resulting in substantial reductions in fuel consumption and energy costs across the facility.
Industry Innovation: A new process methodology was introduced for starch concentration and recovery, transforming the research and development outcome into a commercially successful industrial solution.
