ASKİ Chooses Polat Decanters
As Turkey’s largest wastewater treatment facility, the Ankara Central Wastewater Treatment Plant operates with a capacity of 765,000 m³/day. Delivering high-quality, clean drinking water, protecting water resources, and ensuring the beneficial return of reclaimed water to nature, ASKİ embraces a modern management vision for its institutional development.
Having won ASKİ’s public tender for the Tatlar, Karaköy, and Çubuk regions, Polat Makina operates a total of 4 dewatering decanters across these three sites. In these facilities, where millions of tons of wastewater are treated annually, treated effluent is safely discharged into the environment without causing pollution. The excess sludge generated at the plant is thickened and routed to anaerobic digesters to produce biogas. This biogas is then converted into electricity, covering a significant portion of the plant’s operational energy needs.
Prior to 2011, ASKİ facilities relied on belt presses for dewatering operations. From 2011 onward, belt presses were replaced by advanced-technology Polat decanter centrifuges, each with a processing capacity of 70 m³/hour. This transition dramatically boosted dry solids (DS) cake content from 4–6% to 27–30%. To ensure seamless dewatering performance, all technical requirements—including installation, commissioning, and routine maintenance—are fully supported by Polat Makina’s expert sales and after-sales service teams.
